Timberline Security & Services, LLC (Timberline) is locally owned and operated. The owners, Mr. Pete Steilman and Mr. Travis Birkenbuel were born and raised in Butte, Montana. The owners believe in preserving a safe and healthy community for all residents and business' therefore, Timberline was formed to provide a much needed security service due to the increased rate of theft, vandalism, and harassment that has been occurring in and around our community.
Timberline’s current employees (combined) have over 30 years of relevant experience including private security, law enforcement, and corrections.
Pete Steilman - Owner/Resident Manager
 The Resident Manager, Mr. Pete Steilman, has a law enforcement and detention background which includes working as a juvenile officer, jail administrator, patrol sergeant, Undersheriff, Security Supervisor of a minimum security facility, and the Chief of Security for a maximum security federal juvenile prison. Specific training that Mr. Steilman has obtained includes directing search and rescue missions and working with undercover narcotics, bomb and explosive devices, and community crisis intervention along with other miscellaneous law enforcement, detention, and human resource training. Mr. Steilman has also co-owned and operated a private investigation & security business in Idaho, which conducted security for high-profile clients from the Sun Valley, Idaho area along with private security for the film industry.
Mr. Pete Steilman is also an active member in the Butte Silver Bow Crimestoppers.
Mr. Steilman's academic background includes two years of general studies at Montana Tech, Completion of the Idaho Peace Officers Standards and Training Class Session #120 in 1998, obtaining his Certificate of Completion in Law Enforcement at the College of Southern Idaho in 1999, and completion of the Montana Peace Officers Standards and Training for Corrections.
Travis Birkenbuel - Owner/Chief of Operations
The Chief of Operations, Mr. Travis Birkenbuel has an extensive background in the mining and construction industry including GIS/GPS. Additionally, Mr. Birkenbuel's engineering background along with practical experience brings valuable knowledge to Timberline for equipment installation, operation, and maintenance. As the Chief of Operations, Mr. Birkenbuel will utilize his experience in managing day to day operations within the security sector. Additional related training and experience includes: managing maintenance on multiple operations, planning daily schedules, and managing company resource allocation.
Mr. Travis Birkenbuel, has a BS Degree in General Engineering with a Civil Engineering option from Montana Tech of The University of Montana.
Timberline is a member of the Butte Chamber of Commerce and Uptown Butte Merchants Association.
